Developing a positive attitude toward life and business is a process, not a fix. We must believe in our products and services, believe in the way we want to deliver to our clients, and trust that there are ideal clients and we will find them. If we hold the belief that the economy is failing and money is scarce, how can we find these ideal clients to serve? Fear, judgment and scarcity thinking can blind us to opportunities and interfere with our ability to connect to others in a positive and mutually valuable way.
In a former life, I mentored new Massage Therapists in my capacity as instructor at a vocational college in the East Bay. One of my students was excited to create an out-call massage business in San Francisco. His technique was top notch. He wanted to work with wealthy clients and people with disposable incomes, people who would pay well for massage in their home. One big, glaring problem kept me from recommending him to potential clients—his attitude toward people with money! He criticized the founder of the school for her success, sneered at anyone for driving a luxury car, and was generally negative and suspicious toward people with more money.
How could I recommend or refer him to people he inwardly envied and despised? How could he attract more affluent clients when he judged them for having what they have? I believe much of this attitude came from fear about being able to have enough, to build a practice that would sustain him and his family. Nevertheless, we had a deep discussion about the energy we create from and the value of respect for all people.
The Law of Attraction is working for you, whether you believe it or not, and whether you think positively or negatively. The Law of Attraction is a law of nature and the universe, or physics, and simply states that ‘like attracts like’. What you think about, and how you think about it, draws things, experiences and people to you to confirm what you believe. Though affirming what you want is helpful, you cannot attract what you want by simply saying it. Believing in what you want, being open to the possibility, and building and preparing for what you want, help you become a clear and powerful magnet.
